John Walker Lindh Monday, 02 March 2009 I painted this portrait of John Walker Lindh for Fred Woodward and Thomas Alberty at G.Q. Magazine. The story, told by his father, was a more empathetic view of John as a member of the Taliban in Afghanistan. The illustration describes a narrative moment when Lindh and his fellow fighters are under siege from the Afghan Northern Alliance.
El Mexicano Bank Robber Friday, 16 January 2009 I just did this painting for Roy Comisky at Security Management magazine. The story was about a recent rise in crime in Mexico. I felt a very strange and distinct connection to this story, probably because my mother's people are from Mexico, and my father was from the stuff that bank robbers are made of.
