"Thirty is better than Two"
Shortly after the turn of the millennium, two illustrators, while tossing around strategies for promotion, saw some possibilities in the idea of community and combined creative energy. They decided that thirty was better than two. Thirty artists that is, leaders in the field, each with something different to say, connected by a simple web portal and a shared commitment to making great illustration. Since its inception, the members of Picture Mechanics have come together for group exhibitions, collective promotions (including the latest “Why Journal”), and actual face-to-face meet-ups in New York City. At any given moment you might find us designing a Picture Mechanics T-shirt, a limited edition print, or a Picture Mechanics wrench and socket set complete with lubricated extension ratchets.
